Journal´s background

The challenges of educational research in Bolivia can vary over time and circumstances, but some persistent issues faced by research include limited resources, access to data, and communication of research findings, among others. Many postgraduate research projects remain confined to libraries and repositories, losing their impact and social relevance.

As a result, and under the objectives of the Latin American Education Network (RELE) to contribute to the development of Bolivian educational research, Franz Tamayo Journal was established in January 2019 as a cultural space to disseminate the findings of scholars in the fields of education sciences, philosophy, and the history of Latin America. The motivation of its editorial team, mainly composed of university educators, to generate a collective appreciation for scientific writing and its contributions to the discourse communities has been the fundamental impetus to promote research efforts by teachers, professors, and students in the region.

The journal is inspired on Franz Tamayo, an influential Bolivian thinker, poet, and politician. His most notable work, "The Creation of National Pedagogy," emphasizes the importance of education firmly established in context and reality. Thus, Franz Tamayo is dedicated to disseminating significant contributions in various features and levels of educational theory and practice, with a focus that encompasses sociocritical, aesthetic, and humanistic aspects, resulting from rigorous research and studies conducted by the academic community and professionals from the educational field.

In 2023, the Adventist University of Bolivia established Franz Tamayo Journal under its editorial label. This collaboration was based on understanding that the university plays a fundamental role in training professionals in the field of education through its undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

This demonstrates the university's commitment to promoting research and knowledge exchange in the fields of education and psychology. By affiliating Franz Tamayo Journal with the Adventist University of Bolivia, it strengthens the dissemination of high-quality research and academic work in these disciplines, benefiting both the academic community and society in general.

This brief overview highlights the ongoing, rigorous, critical, and cultural collective editorial work of a journal like Franz Tamayo, which is indexed in AMELICA, the Ibero-American Network of Innovation and Scientific Knowledge (REDIB), Dialnet, and the Latin American Network of Academic Journals in Social Sciences and Humanities (LatinRev). It is also evaluated by the Information Matrix for the Analysis of Journals (MIAR), EuroPub, and has signed the DORA Declaration.

Franz Tamayo has been and continues to be a publication that keeps its call for contributions open the whole year aiming at fostering beneficial dialogues for the advancement of Latin American educational research.
